Colon Screening for Life 5k - back in June

The week following the mud run, I went and shot a road race called Colon Screening for Life 5k, and I really enjoyed that one that it got me wanting to race immediately. I wish I had blogged about it right afterwards, but I am getting it in here now and that is all that matters lol. I got quite a few images that I like, but I'll post my favorites on here.

I wanted to get more pictures of her, but her mom and someone else kept getting in the way. I really like this image.

Seeing the kids running and finishing with their parents was really awesome, I can only hope that Dorian is as enthusiastic about joining me in running. Photographing races is something I really enjoy as I also really love running races too, so I feel that I can capture images of emotion better than most because I know from experience when those emotions are showing best.

I've got a few pics that I should really blog about

It is sad to say that I have been slacking since my last blog about the Mud Run, I shot another race the week after that and never posted any of my fave pictures, I shot a horse race at Ellis Park, I've got images from around the house and on my runs that I've never posted. My main reason is because every time I make a blog with images, all those images show up on my phone because of Google + I think, and it is taking up a lot of space and if I delete them then they are gone even from the blog posting.... so annoying but anyways I am going to spend the day adding those blogs that I should have added weeks ago.

Daily Assignments

I am going to start disciplining myself and assigning daily subject to photograph, whether it is just out back behind the shop, in the shop or wherever I might be but I really need to start doing it. I might just start tonight or tomorrow, but I also need to go ahead and charge my little point and shoot so that I can carry it everywhere around me. A point and shoot is much easier to carry around with me than my T2i DSLR. Most likely the first assignment will be either scenery, machine shop life, home life, etc...  and once I get to taking Dorian on more and more walks and to the park more, I'll be able to take other photos.

Get Dirty Mud Run 4 Miler June 8, 2013

This was my first race event to shoot, and it was a bit disorganized on my part, I ended up having to take Dorian with me and so I didn't get to race around and take photos of everywhere I wanted to but for my first time I got some good photos.
It was held at Angel Mounds, a small obstacle course with mud at the end (actually mud everywhere). I managed to get a lot of pictures at the finish, Dorian did really well for an hour and then he was pretty much bored and tired so we went home. It was a little discouraging at first, having to leave and there were still more people not finished yet but I will be more prepared for this Saturday's upcoming race in downtown Evansville. It's just a 5k and so I should be able to hit at least 3 key points, I'll definitely focus on the fast people first, and then if I can move to the middle part if it is a couple blocks from the finish. And then I will go back to the finish, it shouldn't take too much longer than 40-50 minutes and I should hopefully get some great photographs. Cameron says as long as he has a heads up, he can watch Dorian that morning. Here are some of my pictures from Saturday's race.

Stupid Google +

Well I was dumb enough to sign up to that thing a few night ago, and then when I realized that my phone was syncing photos with my blogs I thought I could delete them from my phone to make room and it wouldn't effect my blog but it did. So now A LOT of the photos I have posted on my blog are gone and I cannot remember which ones they were. It is really aggravating, I shouldn't have messed with that crap. Just another crappy thing to add to my already crappy day.

Howell Wetlands Yesterday

I was able to get up early in the morning and get my run in, so later in the day my mom accompanied me and Dorian to Howell Wetlands for some shooting. Still not a lot of wow photos but it was fun, and it felt nice to snap some pictures, I also got to shoot some of Dorian though the exposure was blown out a bit due to where the sun was and I had to stay in a certain spot to keep him from falling into the water. Here are a few of my pictures from yesterday.

I'll have to look up what kind of flower this is.

Still wondering how these boots got there, they were standing upside down in what I am guessing the mud. I am hoping there isn't a body attached to them. With the snapping turtles out there, I don't know who would be crazy enough to walk out in that crap, these boots were about 15 feet away from the bridge and 30 feet from land.

Here are some black and white photos, I will kind of complain that all the green makes the Wetlands a little boring. Now I am going to be waiting for when Fall and Winter gets here.

A short Excursion to Hovey Lake

Yesterday late afternoon I headed to Hovey Lake, my brother Jared was supposed to go with me but he bailed. I had a goal locked in my mind, getting some good shots of the clouds over the water, though the clouds weren't really cooperating but I got a few decent shots for my first time there. Then I drove around and found an old abandoned school house, and another abandoned building but there was a truck parked behind it and all the overgrowth (there was a lot) so I didn't stay long.
I hope to go again and have some more time, and better weather. Here are a few shots I got.

The cool thing about the school building is that it was built in 1913, one hundred years ago. I didn't notice that until looking through my pictures.
