Selling Items

Well, almost a year after using the Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 VC for Canon at Scott and Amanda's wedding and loving it; I've decided that I want it. I am selling my 70-300mm lens and the Vivitar Flash that I never did sell after buying the new Canon Speedlite Flash. Hopefully I can get $175 out of those two, then Preston still owes me $60.00 for the crossbow he never paid me back, then Cameron said I could see the golf cart for something like $600 and keep $200 from it. That would give me $435.00, but I am hoping that I can sell the rowing machine for something like $35 and the Ab Lounge for $25 so giving me somewhere around $495.00 and I should be able to afford a used Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 lens. It is a little stressful, I am almost tempted to sell the factory lens for something like $50.00, but I don't want to end up with no lens to my camera for who knows how long it might take to sell these items. I think I will wait, see if I can see any of these, I am sure I will see the golf cart but the other items are questionable so I don't want to lose both lenses and be completely screwed....
Tonight I will try and get photos of the Golf Cart, then get them up on Craigslist and the Classifieds. I might even post them up on Facebook, see if anyone is interested at all.

A Pretty Good Weekend

This past weekend I finally dove into the art of Urban Photography, going to an old Slaughter Plant that was also a Concrete Plant before shutting down. It is for sale but falling apart, it didn't have any "No Trespassing" signs and Cameron was okay with me going by myself this time. I didn't do too bad for my first time, though probably would have stayed a bit longer if I had either put my hair up or if it wasn't so hot and humid after the storm. Here are a couple photos that I liked and Cameron liked as well.

It's Been a While

It has definitely been a while since my last post on this blog, hell it's been a while since I've picked up my camera, first time in 2 to 3 months was this past Sunday and then last night while walking my 2 month old son Dorian. I definitely do not have all the time in the world now, so I am having to focus more on my creativity than anything else. Here are a couple of the photos I've shot this week.

Not my greatest by far, but for working on the balance between this new chapter with Dorian, work, training, and my photography I would say they aren't too bad really. I am going to start taking my camera with us on our walks from now on, focus on using my eyes to find creative shots that I never normally looked for before, hopefully this new challenge will advance my skills and experience.

Photo Shoot with Jean Cross

This last Sunday I did a short session with a friend who appears to have a dream for modeling, we have done 2 sessions now and it helps me as well. I started out in photography with the intent of sticking to just nature, but as the last couple of years have went by, things have slowly begun to broaden my interests. Nature; though I love it, take a lot of time and patience and a lot trial and error to get just one great shot - I just don't have that amount of time and patience anymore, it is very rare that I do and with a newborn on the way things are going to get tougher and crazier. I have found a fondness in photographing people, especially good looking people. Jean helps me with my communication skills - or lack of, and I help her as well. I haven't worked my camera in a long time, maybe 1 month and I had forgotten how exciting it was, this last photo shoot has brought that shutter bug back. This coming weekend we are hoping to go out and work on photos, but with the temperature promising cold I don't know how long we'll be out there and how well things will go. Here are a few photos of this last session with her.

Class and Assignment 4

I don't keep up with this blog very well, class is going great and I am having a fun time. Assignment 4 was pretty cool though I feel I didn't get as many shots that I wanted, our midterm assignment has to come from my head though, she wants a theme and that is going to be hard for me to come up with. I am in a hurry right now so I will just post a couple of Assignment 4's photos:

Scott & Amanda's Wedding

The wedding had gone so much better than I expected it to, it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself. Right now I am in class without my hard drive so I can't post any photos on here from it but I will try to remember as soon as I can. I don't think I would want to do weddings though, at least not the ceremony part because I wasn't sure where to be without getting in the way and it was a bit of a hassle. This pregnancy thing has been kicking my ass though, so I have been feeling blah.

First Wedding Shoot Ever - and Nervous!

Tomorrow is my first wedding shoot, and even though it is my cousin Scott and his fiance's wedding, I am still nervous as hell. I am being paid for it so I want to make sure I get really great photos and do my job professionally, and I am scared that I might miss something or mess something up. Depending on how things go, I should have a lot of fun going through the editing process....... though I was planning on doing it Sunday but since we probably won't get home Sunday until around 3 or 4 p.m and I don't know how much energy I will have to go all the way to my office from home. I think I am more worried about not doing things correctly and not being everywhere at the same time to get those memorable photos..... the dressing room with the groom and his guys, then in the dressing room with the bride and her girls, and then shoot the group photos that I can. What will be extremely important is the ceremony and I will have to situate myself up front or near the front so that I can get the photos of everyone coming down the aisle and the audience. Ugh I am a nervous wreck!
